Who We Are

Pirates Baseball Club is a proud, community-based baseball club located in Townsville, Queensland. Founded in 2013, we have spent more than a decade growing grassroots baseball in our region — supporting players, families, and volunteers across junior and senior programs.

While our name has recently changed, our club’s history, people, and values remain firmly intact. Pirates Baseball Club is the continuing identity of the Northern Jets Baseball Club, carrying forward the same teams, members, achievements, and community connections that have defined us since our beginnings.

For many years, the Northern Jets Baseball Club built a strong reputation as a welcoming, inclusive, and family-focused club. As the club grew and evolved, so too did conversations about our identity and long-term future.

After consultation with members, the decision was made to rebrand as Pirates Baseball Club — a change that reflects both our regional character and our aspirations for the future, while still respecting the club’s past. This was not the creation of a new club, but rather the next chapter in an existing one.

The name Pirates represents:

• Resilience and determination

• Teamwork and loyalty

• A strong connection to our coastal community

• Pride in forging our own path while staying grounded in tradition

The rebrand allows us to move forward with a refreshed identity while continuing to honour everything the Northern Jets stood for.

Although our name and branding have evolved, the heart of our club remains the same.

We are still:

• The same incorporated club

• Serving the same community

• Led by dedicated volunteers

• Committed to inclusive, positive club culture

• Focused on developing players both on and off the field

Our history, achievements, and legacy belong to all our members — past and present — and they continue to shape who we are today.

At Pirates Baseball Club, we believe sport is about more than competition. Our club is built on shared values that guide how we play, coach, volunteer, and support one another.
